Stop the Spread

Website / Documentation
Short description

The distribution of hygienic products to those who can't afford it so that they can protect themselves from covid-19.

Description

We aim to distribute 1 million bars of soap through homeless shelters to those in need to prevent further spread of Coronavirus. One bar of soap covers one person’s handwashing needs for one month, and if we deliver 1 million bars of soap it will cover 200,000 individuals or 100,000 families for a 6 to 12 months. Our process collects discarded soap from hotels and sends them to our distribution centers where they are melted down, re-sterilized, and molded into fresh bars of soap. This program not only reduce the spread of illness but it also helps reduce the amount of landfill waste due to unused products. It has been estimated that between 1 and 1.5 million bars of soap are discarded from hotel rooms every single day in the US. This soap makes a considerable contribution to land fill waste, but by partnering with hotels we instead recycle unused bars of soap to contribute to a cleaner environment on Earth.
