Stay is a network of 80 Social Entrepreneurs in Uganda, Kenia and Ruanda, active in income generating, health and education, scaling up promising financially sustainable solutions through a type of Social Franchise System.
In the current project 5 Social Entrepreneurs are building simple hand washing devices (tippy taps) from canisters in remote Ugandan areas – also to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
With 12.500 EUR we reach 27.000 people. Those people can build tippy taps and at the same time be informed about corona. However, nothing is given away for free. The villagers make their own contribution to the building materials and the soap is also sold at cost price (produced by one of the Social Entrepreneurs). The first Social Entrepreneur startet already late March with its action, the rest will follow as soon as funding is available.
What we need help with
a) Short-term regarding Corona-Measures: Funding (donation) b) Mid-term regarding building up a scalable Social Franchise System: - Funding (Hybrid: donation and impact money) - frugal ideas; simple technical solution esp. in the agricultural context which can be scaled by our network of social entrepreneurs
