Return to Learning is bridging the gap of digital divide where learning cannot be limited to online during a crisis
The global COVID-19 pandemic has forced schools across the world to close, impacting more than 1.5 billion children and youth learners, according The United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).A lot of remote areas especially in Africa live with no electricity and poor or no Internet connectivity, nor have acess to computer system making it hard for their children to have a digitally-based distance learning while those in cities continue to learn threatening the equity of equal access to education.
To bridge this digital gaps of existing inequalities, Better Civic International Foundation came up with Return to Learning Initiative to provide support of other alternatives for a remote learning tools and approach where remote areas will be provided with solar powered rechargeable Radio and TV set having inbuilt USB, flash and memory card reader with a media player function to play pre-recorded teaching files and a solar powered mobile phone to connect to teachers as the two way information exchange on learning clarity and to ascertain knowledge received.
