Mobilizing PPE for Nicaraguans on the front lines of the COVID-19 response
In response to the coronavirus pandemic,”Protección Pinolera de Emergencia,” (Emergency Protection for Nicaraguans) is a campaign coordinated by Nicaraguans and global citizens in solidarity with Nicaragua to provide frontline healthcare workers and community organizations working with vulnerable populations with personal protective equipment (PPE) that is otherwise unavailable. The campaign’s goal is relief and prevention. 100% of the funds raised are used to purchase the PPE.
Local organizations and volunteers provide time and resources for purchasing logistics, repacking, transportation, and delivery to the final beneficiaries of the equipment. A network of healthcare professionals help identify the immediate needs and priorities of communities.
To date, almost $50,000 has been raised to purchase medical equipment and protective supplies for the areas of Chinandega, Leon, Managua, Matagalpa, Masya, Rivas, and the remote Caribbean Regions of Nicaragua. Requests for equipment continue to pour in from around the country in hopes of improving the working conditions of public and community health care workers, prehospital service agencies, and nonprofits working with vulnerable populations.
- Raising capital
What we need help with
Our goal is to raise $5,000 or more per month from now to the end of December to meet the ongoing need. Fiscal sponsorship by FNE International enables donors to make tax-deductible contributions through Give Lively or PayPal. Help is also needed to amplify our efforts since funds are raised through social media networking and visibility.
