In addition, Kmerpad aims to produce barrier face masks during the Covid-19 outbreak. With the understanding that Covid-19 is a health crisis, we are manufacturing the face masks to significantly avert the pandemic with the purpose of employing women that will be working at Kmerpad producing the sanitary pads and face masks and to train them in leadership and self-entrepreneurship for those who want to start the own entrepreneurial ventures especially in vulnerable communities where there are refugees, displaced individuals and slum communities.

Kmerpad believes that girls and women should be given the opportunity to achieve their goals by challenging gender inequality. We aim to empower girls and women to take pride in their menstrual health and improve school attendance, health and professional performance. Our mission is to alleviate challenges facing the low-income class through our customized pricing system and the upper middle class through our design system that comes up with competitive eco-friendly products that are reusable. We aim is to embolden the women in Cameroon, who represent about 48% of the entire population.

What we need help with

We hope to get marketing, communication and social media support, logistical support in terms of manufacturing and raising capital. We expect to continue production for Kmerpad reusable sanitary pads and barrier face masks and distribution. Our expected production will be 56, 000 sanitary masks and 3,000 face masks. We want to produce and continue to educate the communities on menstrual hygiene management through social media, television and radio programs and where we can through face-to face community engagement management. During our training program, we will also teach attending participants on good practices in menstrual hygiene management. We will also organize awareness campaigns as part of the unit’s function. This will bring light to the issues of concerning menstrual hygiene management and to propose our product as a viable, affordable and environmentally friendly solution. These campaigns will be complemented by a fully detailed website which gives information on menstrual hygiene management. Digitization of menstrual hygiene will allow us to reach people further from our areas/ regions of influence. Kmerpad will simultaneously train women in the craft of sewing and self-entrepreneurship, and create employment in refugee and displaced communities. We will organize a 2-3-month training program during which women will learn how to sewing of reusable sanitary health pads, teamworking, networking, selling, creating and adding value. At the end of the training, some of the women will be retrained to work in the production and distribution of sanitary kits. We will adhere to regulations of Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
