The program will safeguard the wellbeing, facilitate access to information through social media platforms as a tool for learning, strengthening skills and capabilities, offer opportunities for distance education, access to basic services to girls & women with disabilities. Because of the lockdown girls & women with disabilities are struggling to maintain their livelihoods, therefore the need to scale up social protection measures – programmes and policies that connect families to life-saving income, health care, nutrition and education. The grant funds will be used to facilitate outreach programs, timely distribution of essential relief food items i.e soap, rice, posho, beans, cooking oil and jerrycans, developing & printing IEC materials to support our advocacy campaigns, sanitary towels, masks gowns, testing kits, mosquito nets,basins,jerrycan,mattresses,blankets,water storage containers, facilitate radio programs i.e we will run a 60 minutes radio talk show with a panel of health expertise on local FM station every Saturday critical topics for discussion among others: raising awareness critical to slowing the transmission of COVID19, family conflicts, violence against women in homes, address the issue of girls getting pregnant during the corona virus pandemic. We will have a post COVID 19 program where we will introduce poultry & business management skills.

What we need help with

launching a program to provide education on the prevention of COVID-19 through media such as radio talk shows, spread messages to prevent sexual violence to ensure girls and women with disabilities remain safe and free from violence during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The program will address misinformation about COVID-19 through awareness campaigns on radio talk shows, weekend live Baraza shows, ensure essential workers have adequate protective equipment to perform their work, basic items as well as medical assistance and psychological support. It is a one-year initiative and we are requesting financial support of $27,965 towards the budget.
