Supporting our community's mental health & wellbeing using digital engagement

Description

Emerging from Coronavirus, we are realising the need to continue digital engagement with our community.
We, as a collective have survived lockdown because of connection via Facebook Live & Zoom, but our community’s mental health needs have changed – we all need space and time to heal form Coronavirus! Our amateurish adventure into the digital world has already borne fruit – one lady suffering from terminal cancer engaged with one of my woodland based Facebook Live broadcasts and was so inspired to get outdoors and bathe in nature at dusk, she built fire in her own garden and sat out
realising how wonderfully healing nature connection can be!
We want to develop the production of quality Live and video broadcasting that will run alongside our physical programme enabling everyone to access our activities even after lockdowns end.
We offer access to the countryside for education health & wellbeing at our farm and woodland. Improvising during the lockdowns and developing our digital engagement has supported our existing community, but we need to carry on working in this area of engagement and connection for the sake of the wider community.

What we need help with

Tech support !- digital media promotion coupled with film making and photography linking our community activity to the online world. The quality of the digital output is vital to people actually viewing and signing up to our network. This in turn is not only building much needed mental health support for our community members as they connect with us and our activities, it is also widening our online community exponentially and building a strong platform for new ways of income generation. This digital adaptation to the restrictions we have experienced in lockdown is making us more resilient and our company sustainable for the long term. Who knew a simple Facebook Live taken on my phone could develop into a new focus of work for our organisation? The tech people essentially take up what I record and blog as project director during session delivery, and turn it into something digitally beautiful, something which is accessible to those stuck at home. There are lots of reasons why many people will still be stuck at home even after the lockdowns end. Some of those reasons will be physical, and some mental and emotional. My skill set leading our small organisation is growing and will grow in this process, and I am learning to be more aware and pay attention to digital development - hence the title of this proposed project: Digital Evolution- It always was the way things were going to develop to survive. We do not need funding for the rest of our activity. Our core running is good from our returning contracts and funded activity projects, and we have just about managed to stay in the black during lockdowns by cutting outgoing costs and were the recipient of Lottery Heritage Emergency Funding. We do not have the reserves needed to develop digitally without specific grant funding, which is why we are seeking a small pocket now to continue some of the development and at the same time working toward larger organisational and capital development funding eg. through Lottery Comunity Fund for Reaching Communities.
